Holes

For my R and E I read the book Holes.
Summary:
Stanley Yelnats is very unlucky. He just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time when some sneakers fell from the sky. He thought it was a sign; a sign that meant his dad would finish his invention to find a way to recycle old sneakers. But, those sneakers belonged to Clyde Livingston, the famous baseball player. Stanley went to court for "stealing" the shoes, and instead of going to jail, he decided to go to Camp Greenlake for 18 mos. A camp where kids dug holes to build character, but Stanley thinks that "The Warden" is looking for something because she rewards them every time they find something special.
